A clean and healthy environment has been a central part of Stapleton's philosophy from the beginning. For The Shops At Northfield Stapleton, that meant building for higher energy efficiency, using a better selection of building materials, and making an ongoing commitment to water management and indoor air quality.
The Shops At Northfield Stapleton has been constructed to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standard, and in October 2006 was granted Silver LEED certification from the Green Building Council. In addition to being one of the first retail centers in the country to "build green", The Shops At Northfield Stapleton is the largest retail center ever to enroll in the Xcel Design Assistance Program (XDAP). Through XDAP, Xcel Energy makes cash incentives available to tenants who follow their green building requirements.
The Shops At Northfield Stapleton Tenant Sustainability Program~
The Shops At Northfield Stapleton has created a first-of-its-kind program to encourage tenants to embrace green building and sustainable design. The Shops At Northfield Stapleton Sustainability Tenant Incentive Program (NSTIP) is another facet of Stapleton's overall commitment to environmental responsibility. These practices are expected to reduce the amount of energy and natural resources required to operate and maintain, while helping to create a healthier environment for employees and customers.
